Myrna Kamara

After training at the School of American Ballet, Myrna became a member of the New York City Ballet. She performed several ballets, from George Balanchine to Jerome Robbins. She also performed pieces by Peter Martins, Elliot Feld, and Lar Lubovitch. In later years Myrna went to perform as a soloist with the Bonn Ballet in Germany. She later became a principal dancer in Miami City Ballet, receiving critical acclaim for her performances in several Balanchine ballets. Her final contractual company was with Maurice Béjart for three years. In a short amount of time she performed numerous ballets including the “Ballet for Life” (Le Presbytere).
Myrna has appeared as guest artist throughout the United States and Europe, working with several choreographers including Lynne Taylor Corbett, Daniel Rosseel, Youri Vamos, Yanis Pikieris, David Palmer, Paulo Manso de Sousa, Susanna Egri, Gheorghe Iancu, Vladimir Vassiliev, Renato Zanella, Luc Bouy, and many more.
Some of her well-known performances were at the Arena di Verona for her notable and distinguishing performances in Aida, working with Placido Domingo for his Gala evening of “Carmen” and performances of “Aida” in Japan, performing Franco Zeffirelli’s “Aida” in Teatro alla Scala, an evening event for Bulgari at Terme di Caracalla in Rome with Roberto Bolle and Andrea Volpintesta, Gala des Ètoiles in Luxembourg (where she performed two Balanchine pas de deux’s licensed from the Balanchine Trust), and performing for the last two closing night galas on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the “Miami International Ballet Festival”.
Besides dancing, Myrna also regularly teaches and coaches dancers (Tanzakademie Zürich 2016, Basel Ballet School 2017, San Francisco Ballet School 2018, Studio Danza every year). She has also worked with competition ice skaters, teaching them alignment, coordination, technique and artistry in order to improve their performance quality.
Ms Kamara is also the founder and performer of balletXtreme Dance Company.
