Krista King-Doherty
Krista King-Doherty is a nationally recognized and award winning teacher and choreographer. She received her training at Ballet la Jeunesse in Los Angeles, CA under Natalia Clare and with her mother, Kathie Fishback Anthony. As a student, Krista performed with The Joffrey Ballet at the Greek Theatre in CA. Krista worked as an international fashion model in Europe, USA, Asia and Australia for 10 years prior to returning to her roots of dance.
She has been teaching ballet, pointe, jazz, and contemporary dance at Fishback Studio of the Dance in New Mexico for the past 20 years and is part of the Fishback family. Krista coaches and choreographs for national and international level competitors and has won numerous overall high score, technical and choreography awards. Since 2005, Krista's students have qualified in both solos and ensembles for the Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York City. Her students and choreography have repeatedly won the Youth Grand Prix award, the Hope Award, and overall awards in contemporary divisions at YAGP. In 2012, her student won the Gold Medal in the Junior Women’s Division at the YAGP Finals and was invited to perform at Lincoln Center with a piece Krista choreographed. Her pieces have also been recognized at World Ballet Competition and at the Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition in China.
Her students have been awarded scholarships to programs including San Francisco Ballet School, The Ailey School, Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, the School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and several universities. Krista’s former students are performing professionally in the USA and abroad with dance companies, on Broadway and with the Radio City Rockettes. Krista enjoys guest teaching, private coaching and setting choreography at dance schools and institutions across the country.
